The cajon is sort of an overdeveloped box, which isn't surprising, because in the past (during times of slavery) it was literally just a box. Therefore, most cajons still have their rectangular shape - but not the Pearl PCJ-3000B Wedge Tri-Side Cajon! This model breaks the mould with its innovative three-sided shape. What this means is that when you sit on the cajon, you no longer play just one striking plate in front of you, but two striking plates that are underneath your legs. That is a much better position, ergonomically speaking, so if that is something you value, then this cajon might be the one for you.

Features of the Pearl PCJ-3000B Wedge Tri-Side Cajon

Luckily the sound has not been sacrificed: this is a cajon with a powerful sound, that is a joy to play. The Tri-Side is made from fibreglass with a beautiful wood grain finish. On the inside is a set of fixed snares that give the well-known sizzle - offering the same musical function as a hi-hat would. The low-end is also well taken care of: the rounded shape of the back of the cajon functions as a rather sizable resonance chamber, giving it quite a deep sound.
